ASRT Museum and Archives

Seeing Beyond Boundaries

With a mission to deepen appreciation and understanding of radiologic technology, the ASRT set out to create a museum experience at its headquarters in Albuquerque, NM. RLMG created a total of 19 media pieces about the people, history, and technology behind this groundbreaking profession.

Art of the Image is a twelve minute, six-screen, looping video showcasing the cultural side of medical imaging. Using motion-graphic techniques, we combined artist-quality medical images, medically-inspired works of art, and relevant cultural references to create an atmospheric visual narrative for the museum’s central space.

On 4K-resolution touchtables, we created interactive experiences designed to invite deeper investigation. At Body Assembly, visitors use examples from various types of medical imaging to assemble a composite body. Faces of the R.T.s honors radiologic technologists from around the nation in a playful “trading card” activity. Literature Table allows visitors to explore digital copies of important historical texts, while Technology Timeline investigates the historical milestones of medical imaging.

Other highlights include nine interpretive video shorts; an interactive map describing the history and current state of professional licensing around the nation; two interactives about key professional figures; and a set of virtual donor walls.
