What Makes Us Human
In the Being Human Hall at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, visitors aren’t just seeing the exhibit—they are the exhibit. When the museum decided to update one of its most popular galleries they challenged RLMG to incorporate new science and appeal to young people by offering experiences they can’t have at home, on the web, or on game consoles. RLMG responded by producing 20 exhibits that go beyond hands-on and engage visitors with the traits that make us human: our hands, our walk, our brains, our DNA, our facial features and more.
Early Human Face Swap & Voice Visualizer
Visitors can reflect on their ancestors at the Early Human Face Swap station, mugging into a camera to see themselves mirrored on screen as a Homo erectus or Australopithecus afarensis.
At the multi-user Voice Visualizer, visitors experiment with the building blocks of speech and language. Visitors stand at microphones positioned in front of a large projection and create a colorful, kaleidoscopic vocal signature as they speak, shout, and sing.

Walk Wall
A full body experience at the Walk Wall senses visitors’ motions as they learn how their upright posture contributes to balance and movement. Visitors compete for the high score as they “do the human dance”.
