York County History Center took a giant leap forward when it renovated an old steam plant into a state-of-the-art museum. Luminous digital pillars define exhibit areas, while history comes alive in beautifully illustrated animations, layered interactive maps, and compelling first-person narratives.

One of the Museum’s goals: show that diverse perspectives, communities, and experiences have shaped York County. Both celebrated and unsung individuals populate the soaring History Makers Array, and visitors can delve into their stories at touchscreens around its base. Likewise, the Renewal Theater introduces beloved community traditions – Fastnachts! Baseball! The Temple Guard! – while also confronting a painful history of discrimination. As they illuminate fresh narratives, these experiences build bridges to previously overlooked history and audiences.

RLMG guided media development from start to finish, immersing ourselves in York County history and community stories. Two 20-foot-tall Digital Towers strategically placed in the first floor gallery became distinctive focal points, while entrepreneurial savvy and unexpected connections take center stage in interactives such as Made in York and Sheppard Tractor. Our software is dynamic by design, making it easy for staff to update content and continue showcasing diverse voices, objects, and stories.

It’s not often that I get a hug just for taking people through an exhibit. You have achieved exactly what we were looking to accomplish. We are deeply indebted.
