A Gem State Journey
Taking visitors from the panhandle to the plains of Idaho, RLMG worked with the Idaho Historical Society to create 46 engaging pieces of media for the renovated state history museum in downtown Boise. The museum wanted to honor the first people, the pioneers, the parachuting beavers, the last salmons, and all the others who have lived life between the mountain tops and canyon depths of this geologically diverse state. RLMG shared the museum’s stories in ways that would tie them to place and also resonate with visitors today.
A large-scale, projection-mapped wall and a 26-foot long interactive, digital stream bring the beauty of North, Central, and South Idaho to life and highlight the importance of water to the state. In galleries dedicated to Idaho’s North, Middle and Southern regions, visitors can pedal through a tour of Pocatello or Boise, immerse themselves in the Big Burn, turn a valve and control the water flow at Shoshone Falls, or test their agricultural knowledge in a multi-player, game-show style quiz. Before leaving, visitors are invited to become a part of Idaho’s history by adding their own story and image to a large digital display, and to explore others’ stories—both historical and contemporary.
